Making mental abilities our priority while combining research, diagnostics and therapy.
The ability of thinking.
Thinking represents a complex capability of the human brain. As long as it functions properly, the topic of brain health is not addressed much. However, when mental abilities change in the course of increasing age or in the context of neurological-neuropsychiatric diseases, e.g. one becomes unfocused or forgetful, awareness is growing towards how valuable a well-functioning brain is.
Growing influence of age and diseases.
We live in a society that is getting older and in which diseases can be diagnosed at an increasingly early stage, including diseases that can influence the function of the brain. Maintaining mental abilities is therefore of particular personal, psychosocial and health-economic importance.
Linking research with daily clinical practice.
COGITO combines everyday clinical processes (diagnostics, therapy) with neurocognitive research and works in close cooperation with the Neurological Clinic of the University Hospital Düsseldorf as well as with a number of nationwide neurological-psychiatric specialized practices.
